Mathematics Education Instructor or Assistant Professor
Clarkson University welcomes applicants for their new Mathematics Education Instructor or
Assistant Professor Position This position may be on the teaching-track or tenure-track depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position is located on Clarkson's Capital Region Campus located in Schenectady, New York.  This is a ten-month appointment with the possibility of additional summer teaching opportunities.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will teach, mentor, and advise graduate candidates in the Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics as well as the Master of Arts in Teaching P-12 Technology and P-12 Computer Science.  The position also includes service to the department, University, community, and profession.  Tenure-track candidates will conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Tenure-track applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field from an accredited university; a minimum  of five years of secondary math, computer science, and/or technology teaching experience; expertise in and commitment to field-based experiences; and a continual improvement and collaborative mindset. 

Highly qualified candidates will have National Board Certification; post-secondary teaching experience working with teacher preparation programs; experience mentoring or supervising student teachers; experience with nation program accreditation agencies such as the Association for Advancing Quality in Education Preparation (AAQEP); experience with edTPA and program assessment; expertise in multicultural education, or culturally-relevant pedagogy; grant writing and management; ability to teach hybrid or online courses; bilingual proficiency.

The Clarkson Master of Arts in Teaching is a full-year residency-based program with a rich thirty-year history. The program provides pathways to initial teaching certification at the graduate level in secondary mathematics, biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, English, social studies, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.  At the P-12 level, the Clarkson Master of Arts in Teaching program provides pathways to initial teaching certification in technology, computer science, business and marketing, and teaching English to speakers of other languages.
