Pastor of Holy Trinity Johnstown

 

Collaborates/Communicates Daily Operation Needs With:

Administrative Assistant and Other Parish Staff

 

Summary:

This position is part of the Church's operational team and is largely responsible for the appearance and safe operating condition of the Church properties and equipment. The individual will share in the responsibility for all building and ground matters and related operations at Holy Trinity along with the other maintenance personnel. In addition to the daily maintenance-related aspects, the maintenance personnel are also responsible for special assignments, as the need arises. This position requires teamwork and carries with it the responsibility of performing related work as required with the Parish Facilities and Cemeteries

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Day to day maintenance of Church, Rectory, and Parish Center.
  • Oversight of the two Parish Cemeteries (St. Patrick’s and St. Anthony’s). Maintenance Personnel will work with the respective cemetery groundskeepers in maintaining the safe operation of parish-owned equipment, keep track of the purchase of gasoline and other supplies
  • Coordinate and assist with routine maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems, etc, as needed
  • Maintenance of grounds, including lawns and parking lots
  • Snow removal from sidewalks of Parish Facilities and Parking Lots
  • General repair and building projects, as needed
  • Coordinate all activities performed by contractors (electrical, plumbing, general contracting, etc.) This includes working with the pastor in following through with capital campaign building projects
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the head of custodial duties/maintenance and Pastor. Employee will be expected to communicate regularly with the pastor, the administrative assistant, and other parish staff in order to remain up to date with the needs of the grounds. These duties include, but are not limited to, setting up tables and chairs in the parish hall for community events, ensuring a clean church worship space, working with the church decorating committee in setting up seasonal decorations and hymnals, and other related tasks required by the pastor.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

 

A minimum of five years supervisory general maintenance work                                                    

Clean Driving Record                                   

Successful Completion of High School Graduation Requirements or Its Equivalency

Ability to Work in a Team Environment and Regularly Meet Goals and Deadlines

Employee will be required to complete all standard background checks and safety compliance standards set by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position that allows for the employee to log up to 18 hours per week. On-call availability may be required in an emergency.
