Announcement of Vacancy
The Queensbury Board of Education is accepting applications for the position of director of student services effective February 25, 2019. The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary.


Minimum Candidate Requirements
• Applicants must have New York State certification as a School Administrator/ Supervisor (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL) or School Building Leader
(SBL).


• In addition, applicants must have at least five years of  successful teaching experience and three years of successful
administrative experience; strong communication and organizational skills; and demonstrated knowledge of NYS
learning standards, assessments and the ability to review and analyze data.


Preferred Candidate Qualifications
• Experience in Special Education, CPSE/CSE, and/or other related services is preferred.


Position Profile
Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction or other administrator, an incumbent of this position
oversees all facets of student support services, including  programs, services, personnel and budget.


The individual reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction or designee and supervises the CSE/CPSE Chairperson, special education teachers, student support
services staff, paraprofessionals and other support staff.


The Director of Student Support Services utilizes his/her leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to ensure effective delivery and continued improvement in the area of student support services and to promote the educational development of all students.

• Be a proactive, highly-visible and handson district-wide leader
• Establishes and maintains an emotionally healthy and physically safe environment for students and staff
• Collects, analyzes, sorts, tracks and communicates statistical data regarding student achievement
• Demonstrates sound judgment


• Working knowledge of:


• The best practices in special education and student support services
• The principles of personnel supervision
• Local, state and federal regulation, laws and mandates pertaining to special education and other student support services


Skills in:


• Communicating effectively both orally and in writing
• Developing professional development opportunities for staff
members
• Ability to effectively:
• Utilize leadership, supervisory and administrative skills
• Collaborate with teachers, principals and other school personnel
• Deliver continued improvements in the area of student services
• Promote the educational development of all students
