● New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (S.B.L.) and School District Leader (S.D.L.)

● Experience in a high school house system preferred

● Ed.D., Psy.D., Ph.D. in a relevant educational field preferred

Reports To: Superintendent or his/her designee Supervises: All Arlington High School staff and others as assigned

Job Description: This twelve-month administrative position requires an individual who is dynamic, creative, a team builder, has superior communication skills and a comprehensive knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum, instruction, assessment, community building, cultural competency and equity, and organizational design and systems thinking. The Executive Principal will support the mission, core values, and strategic objectives of the district and lead the high school toward that destination. The Executive Principal will supervise and evaluate the faculty and staff in accordance with district evaluation procedures promoting professional growth and ensuring high standards for professional accountability. As the school’s instructional leader, the Executive Principal will establish an environment that is conducive to promoting continuous improvement in accordance with the district Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Plan. The Executive Principal will facilitate and lead staff, students and parents in creating equitable and culturally responsive learning environments designed to support the academic, social and emotional needs of all students as self-directed, lifelong learners. Performance Responsibilities: The Executive Principal is responsible for all leadership, management and operational aspects of the school. Specific activities include, but are not limited to the following:

Instructional Leadership

● Initiate, design, and implement programs that meet the specific needs of all students

● Create a master schedule of courses and teaching assignments within established guidelines to meet student needs

● Assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum

● Supervise student support services to enhance individual student education and personal development

● Demonstrate a thorough understanding of data analysis protocols and effectively use data to communicate the strengths and areas of improvement for the instructional program Personnel

● Supervise all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnel involved with the school

● Provide professional learning for staff as needed

● Orient newly assigned staff members and assist in their professional growth

● Evaluate and counsel staff members regarding their individual and group performance

● Apply high professional standards to the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluating of the school’s professional staff Budget Management

● Prepare and administer the school’s budget

● Maintain and control the various local funds generated by student activities Administration

● Supervise the maintenance of all required building records and reports

● Establish a school climate, which fosters high standards for student conduct and selfdiscipline

● Work with students, teachers, staff, parents and administrators to develop and implement the District’s Code of Conduct

● Keep the superintendent and central office administration informed of the school’s events, activities and/or potential concerns

● Present to the Board of Education at the request of the superintendent

● Work with various members of the central administrative staff on school concerns of more than in-school import, such as transportation, personnel, instruction and curriculum issues, special services, and the like

● Interpret and enforce district policies and administrative regulations

● Conduct meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school

● Assume responsibility for the physical and emotional safety of the school including but not limited to the planning and supervision of all safety drills and an emergency preparedness program

● Supervise the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes

● Attend and participate in-district meetings and committees

● Respond to written and oral requests for information in a timely manner

● Delegate authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal

● Complete State and Federal reports

● Promote and develop the leadership capacities of administrators/teachers in the building Staff Development

● Establish clear and measurable performance goals

● Implement all aspects of the Annual Professional Performance Review and supervise the evaluation process for all staff members

● Assume responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations, attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, and continuing educational activities Community Relations

● Engage stake-holders, including students, parents, faculty and community members, in a shared commitment to the goals and priorities of the District

● Maintain active relationships with students and parents - seek to be a visible and accessible presence who portrays an effective role model for students and staff

● Attend school sponsored activities, and functions

● Establish and maintain relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs

● Use proven data analysis protocol to communicate successes and challenges of the school community to stakeholders Perform such duties in addition to those described above as may be assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
