Outcome: The Safety Director will ensure that the Daily Gazette and all of its affiliates create a safe working environment for employees, customers and the general public when in contact with the company.
Direct Responsibility: The Safety Director will oversee fleet safety, employee safety training, equipment safety, and regulatory compliance along with all safety programs and equipment. This will include proactive vehicle safety measures, accident prevention, regulatory compliance/testing, accident investigation, Federal Motor Carrier Administration regulation and compliance, OSHA regulation and compliance, and development of safety training materials and programs. Job Requirements
Fully understand and teach/train all Daily Gazette safety and regulatory guidelines.
Fully understand and teach/train all FedEx safety and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures compliance and communication of applicable state and federal regulations.
Coordinate with the NON-CDL trainer to schedule necessary training of new employees or further necessary training of an existing employee.
Develop and manage an inspection program to ensure all pre and post-trip inspections are being done by drivers
Randomly pre-trip vehicles to ensure FMCSA/FedEx compliance.
Develop and oversee the safety protocols for all manufacturing areas. This will include working with the executive leadership in those areas to ensure safety measures are in full compliance.
Travel to an accident scene (vehicle or manufacturing) when practical to gather information, investigate, take pictures, and when appropriate begin drug and alcohol testing, post-accident procedures, etc.
Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
Coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments to continuously improve processes, maximize efficiency and exceed customer service expectations.
5 years of Safety Leadership Experience in a Fleet or Manufacturing Environment
NYS Drivers License is required
